Thalamotomy was discovered by Cooper.This was an accidental discovery,in that he noticed relief of tremor in PD patients after accidental ligation of anterior choroidal artery.Best antitremor tremor effect can be obtained by lesionds in ventral intermediate nucleus of thalamus.post operative complications are dysarthria and haemorrage.Bilateral lesion wiull produce dysarthria and cognitive impairement.thalamotomy is rarely performed now a days to control dyskinesias.
